This is so beautiful! To my liking though, I think the wings are a bit too much, because cabochon is already fancy, but the most important is that the person who's going to wear this will love!

Thanks so much! Agreed, the cabochon could have stood on its own - in this case, I added the wings to get the character across more strongly ;).

Hey heyy~ i saw your artwork while browsing on :iconprojectcomment:
This deviation cacthed my eyes immediately X3
I do enjoy your presentation, it's really cool that you took pictures from different side of view. This kind of presentation conveys more details that can't be seen on one side only. The photos are well taken, and the composition is really nice! My favorite part is in the left side ^^
I have to disagree with previous commenter. I like how well the photos are organized / the placement. Somehow i can sense the movement. They leading eyes on circular motion. From the left photo, it created diagonal line heading to the right bottom photo. The wings on the right bottom photo, looks pointing to the final photo. It's a nice idea using your hands as scale. However, if it weren't because of the big photo on the left, your fingers would ended up taken the focus point! Because the skin color is warm, while the rest of accessories are all cold color. I'm not sure either if we change the background to avoid "miss-focus" because the way it is now is already great! The plain white background made your jewelry pop out! And no shadowing over item, it's shows your professionalism. I'm happy seeing your presentation getting better and better~
I can't give critiques on your technique because i don't have enough knowledge about crafting XD
However,  i do realize that your works are very neat! The amount of details on this accessory shows your patience and dedication. I've tried creating a necklace before, but i dunno why it's...... not neat at all! The chains and connectors (i have no idea what it's name) are not well executed. It's not easy and need a lot of patience to create an accessories as neat as yours XD
The materials are well chosen. I like the design a lot! I like how you presented this character. The green rhinestones has swirls that shows characteristic of Malechite. I think it will look better if you polished it more, to make it more shiny~ the silver frame made it looks elegant and those little gems are really nice touch! They made the silver frame not monotone. Have i mention that those wings are my fav part?
Also, just minor thing., i almost didn't see your watermarks. Perhaps you can ecperiment with typography next time :3

Overall, great job! I really like your work~ Keep it up! ^^
Sorry if there are so many mistakes on grammar XD
Have a great day~

Hi! Sorry for the really late response - work has been taking up most of my time this past 1.5 months, and as a result I fell really behind on my replies >.>! As always, your critique is super helpful, and I really appreciate the thoroughness of your comments and suggestions :thanks:

I'm very happy that you think my presentation has been improving - and I'm glad that you took a different stance than the previous commenter; I think that different suggestions can be (in this case, it is) more helpful than receiving the same advice/interpretation multiple times ;). I can say that some of my earlier necklaces were not very neat - it takes careful planning (ex. drawing where the chains will go, where the wires will end, etc.) and material purchases to make some necklaces (especially when buying materials online), and some pieces don't turn out well even after planning :faint:! I do think that with more time and practice, the proportion of "misses" goes down :D.

Do you mean polish the malachite, or the frame (and maybe the gems)? I put several coats of polish on the former, but not the latter - I could polish both in the future :D. Hehe, I really like the wings as well!

Agreed, I need to change my watermark - it's something I'm planning to do, but haven't got around to yet xD

Thank you again, and I hope you are having a great day/week/month !

Hellooo~! No problem at all, dear! Life get buy and busier sometimes XD
Ahaha glad you found my comment helpful!
Really? i do think they look neat~ But, of course lot of practice will always make you improve~ :3
I mean the malachite, i think it would be great if it looks more shiny? But of course this one is depend on personal taste XD

Have a wonderful week, too~ :3

Yeah it does xD
Your comments are always helpful ;)

I'm glad you think so! I do think that they have become neater with time, but there is always more room for improvement ^^.

I think it depends on the gemstone as well as the taste, malachite is not particularly shiny, but I would expect emeralds and sapphires to be very shiny xD.

Thank you !

I really love this, but I must say that one of the reasons I love it is because you can change the position of the wings. As you can't keep them in position, (so it appears,) that seems a shame to me. Still love the design, though!

Sorry for the super late reply, and thanks so much ! I'm happy that you like the design; I like the idea of locking the wings, but I'm not sure if I can achieve that with my current techniques - maybe in the future xD

Hello from ProjectComment !

First off, really cool :) The fact that the thumbnail caught my in the ProjectComment note is already a good sign in terms of the presentation. I have some graphic design and composition tips that I think will work really well for you!

Observations
- Of all these photos, I find the bottom right image most eye-catching. I see 2 main reasons for this - first the posing (vertical with the wings up, like an angel), second the higher contrast as compared to the other two images. Both of these together makes that photo feel like the hero image, and I was a bit surprised that you did not choose this to be the biggest one. (I'm guessing the aspect ratio didn't quite work)

- for the top-right image, the eye is drawn more towards the fingers than the product. This is due to the composition:

1. Intersections are eye-catching, and you placed the intersection of the product and the fingers near the center of the image
2. The fingers take up a lot of space in the image for a background object.
3. The fingers are brighter than the product
4. The fingers are warm colored, whereas the product is a cool green. Warm colors stand out in images, whereas cool colors recede.

- I think the collage as a whole may feel more balanced if the left image was flipped horizontally, so that the product ran from the top left diagonally down to the bottom right. This theoretically should balance the directionality of the top-right image. I'm hedging a lot here because I haven't tested it explicitly with this image. Always judge case by case :)

- Typography: unless your font choice was already intentional, I'd suggest thinking about what feeling you want your brand/signature to convey, and then choose a font that conveys that feeling! (dafont.com is a great place for fonts, and here's an intro on the pros and cons of serif vs sans serif: www.webdesignerdepot.com/2013/… ) Also, consider adding some whitespace between brand and the border to give it some breathing room. (Here's an articale explaining all about what different amounts of whitespace means alistapart.com/article/whitesp…).

Suggestions Summary

- Overall, a higher contrast would be more eye-catching (for you this may mean shining a brighter light on the table?)
- Use your most eye-catching image as the hero image. Design the aspect ratio around this if you need to!
- Pay attention to the composition (value, color, size, placement) in each image
- Pay attention to the energy and directionality of each image, and how it impacts the collage as a whole.
- whitespace is the graphic designer's best friend
- choose your font intentionally!

Cheers and best wishes,
KC

Hi! I apologize for the super late reply - I fell behind on responding to comments due to my schedule, and I didn't want to give a one-sentence response to such a wonderful critique! I really appreciate your suggestions and advice - I don't often get comments from a composition/graphic design perspective, and you brought my attention to important factors that I hadn't considered before. Thank you very much! :thanks:

I love your choice of background, it is as beautiful as your exquisite jewellery. I really like this piece, so simple yet beautifully elegant and oh so very unique.

I love the way you have used a "photogrid" style photo to show off the work, and that you have held it in one of the photos to show the approximate (we don't know the size of your hand) size of the piece.

I love how the wings wrap around the main piece, it's a shame there isn't a way that you can hold them in that position, like a clever piece of wirework so they can be locked in if the owner chooses so.

I hope to feature you on one of my weekly artist features on my facebook page. Would you do me the honour perhaps? (You just have to answer 7 questions that either you, I, or both of us choose, then I write up a little bit about either you, or one of your pieces)

Best wishes C x

Thank you so much! I'm glad you like the piece and the photography ;). I'm not sure about implementing locking since I don't want the wings to be scratching the malachite, but it's an interesting suggestion and I may look into that for a future piece :).

Thank you again, and thanks for the feature invitation! I'd be happy to answer your questions, but note that my replies may be delayed because of my schedule ^^.

Jewelry aside (which is fabulous :D) I really like the photographs you chose to take. The background is nice, has some texture, but isn't distracting. I also really like that you have one where you're holding it, gives a nice idea of the approximate size. :) Beautiful, as always!
